Elke Moltrecht is a musicologist and co-founder of Bachhaus/Bosehaus Leipzig and Heinrich-Schütz-Haus Bad Köstritz. From 1992 to 2005 she has worked at Podewil - Center for Contemporary Arts in Berlin, and directed the music department from 1995. 2006 and 2007 she directed the Ballhaus Naunynstraße in Berlin-Kreuzberg. From 2008 to 2011 she served as Executive Director of the nationwide contemporary music network “Music 21 Niedersachsen” and in 2001 founded the record label x-tract. She is the curator of international and interdisciplinary festivals and projects such as “faithful! Fidelity and Betrayal of Musical Interpretation”, “Visualizing music” of the Humboldt Lab Dahlem, "Hybride Music", “Kreuztanbul - Intercultural Happenings between Kreuzberg and Istanbul in Sound, Image and Word” or “The Beyrouth of Education”, "40 Years of Speed and Space - Los angeles - Berlin", and also annual programs, including contemporary music, sound art, electroacoustic and experimental electronic music, club culture, as well as collaborations worldwide with renowned festivals and institutions. She has published in professional journals on experimental and new music since 2002. Also member of influential national and international juries and boards, she founded the Ensemble Extrakte in 2013.

Since March 2014 she works as Executive Director at the Academy of the Arts of the World in Cologne. www.academycologne.org
